6 reasons to opt for shampoo bars instead of bottled shampoo

6 reasons to opt for shampoo bars instead of bottled shampoo

1. Less plastic

That’s right, no more plastic bottles! Solid shampoos would avoid the use of 500 million single-use plastic bottles each year. The advantage of shampoo bars is that it doesn’t need to be wrapped in plastic to be preserved.

2. It's just a lot more convenient
If you’re a frequent traveler, you’ll certainly understand how unpleasant it can be sometimes to carry large bottles of liquid shampoo in your suitcases. On one hand, it takes up a lot of space, and on the other hand, it always ends up leaking everywhere… So we have to put the plastic bottles in plastic bags to avoid it leaking on our clothes. Not practical at all, nor is it eco-friendly! The solid shampoo is very compact and won’t take up much space in your luggage. It also saves you from dealing with the quantities of liquids allowed in the plane when you travel. But you don’t have to wait until you leave on a trip to start using solid shampoo…
3. It helps you save money
One solid bar of shampoo is equivalent to about 60-80 washes depending on the thickness, length, and texture of your hair and how often you wash it. This is equivalent to 2-3 250g bottles of liquid shampoo. In other words, it lasts you twice as long and costs you half the price. What a deal ! — Be careful to dry your shampoo bar between each usage so that it lasts longer.
4. No more waste
Often, when we wash our hair with liquid shampoo, we tend to pour more than we should into our hands. On the other hand, when the bottle is almost empty, it is very difficult to get the remaining liquid, and we often end up throwing it away. ANYWAY, it’s such a waste! With a solid bar of shampoo, you only use the amount of product you need for each wash.
5. Much more natural

Liquid shampoos in pharmacies are often composed of chemicals such as silicone and sulfate. Silicone forms a kind of film on the hair to give it the illusion of a smoother, silkier and healthier appearance, whereas, in reality, silicone suffocates the hair and makes it more brittle. It also inhibits the penetration of your other products. This chemical forces you to wash your hair more often. Sulfate, on the other hand, is used to lather up your shampoo, but it can be very irritating, especially if you wash your hair frequently.

6. For cleaner water
Not only are bottled shampoos containing silicone and other chemicals that are bad for your hair, but they are just as bad for your water systems, especially if you have a septic tank. Non-collective sewage systems purify water with bacterial treatment. In other words, it is living organisms that help treat sewage by feeding on other bacteria found in the water. If our used water contains too many chemicals, these living organisms could die and would not be able to treat the water. Since shampoo bars contain only natural products, they are not harmful to these living organisms. So we make sure to have clean water.
